Vietnam welcomes 2nd Korean summit

Vietnam considers the second Inter- Korean Summit slated for Aug. 28-30 "an important and positive move in the relations between the two Koreas," Vietnamese Foreign Ministry spokesman told reporters Thursday.

Vietnam hopes that the summit will be successful, contributing to national reconciliation and promotion of peace and stability on the Korean peninsula and the region, the spokesman said at a regular press briefing.

"Vietnam supports the peaceful settlement of issues on the peninsula through negotiations and dialogues, and the aspiration of peoples of the two Koreas for national reunification," he said.

Vietnam is ready to make active contribution to the improvement of the relations between the two Koreas as well as peace process on the peninsula.
