If requested, Vietnam is ready to provide venues and necessary assistance for bilateral negotiations on normalizing diplomatic ties between the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the United States, a local spokesman said Thursday.
Vietnam welcomes the future negotiations, and "hopes that the two sides, through dialogues, will narrow differences and soon reach positive solutions to deal with outstanding issues, moving to the relation normalization and contributing to peace and stability in Northeast Asia and the world," said Foreign Ministry spokesman Le Dung said at a regular press briefing.
Vietnam will try to make active contribution to the negotiations and the normalization process, he said.
Vietnam highly appreciates important results reached at the six- party talks about the nuclear issue on the Korean peninsular as well as important progresses in the relations between the DPRK and related parties, the spokesman said.
