Cote d'Ivoire's President Laurent Gbagbo will from Thursday conduct an official visit to Benin, at the invitation of his Beninese counterpart Thomas Boni Yayi, official sources said Thursday.
During the visit, President Gbagbo will hold discussions with his counterpart and other Beninese government officials, according to an official statement.
President Yayi, who was elected in March 2006, was officially inaugurated as president on April 6, 2006 at a ceremony that was attended by seven African heads of state including President Gbagbo.
Yayi was one of the seven African heads of state who attended the "flame of peace" ceremony, which took place in Bouake, stronghold of Cote d'Ivoire's former rebel group on July 30, 2007, to officially launch the process of national reconciliation and disarmament in Cote d'Ivoire.
