Algerian national police recently seized a record 6 million U.S. dollars' value of counterfeit money and arrested two suspects here, Algerian daily "La Tribune" reported Thursday.
The police said they questioned and arrested a 35-year-old suspect during a routine inspection who they found with a bag containing counterfeit bank notes in U.S. currency totaling six million dollars.
During the operation, the police also arrested another suspect in possession of a falsified resident permit.
In the framework of the fight against organized crime, Algerian national police have arrested 145 suspects since the beginning of 2007, out of which 89 suspects implicated in 107 criminal cases have already been sentenced to jail.
