Morocco will host an International Conference on Rural Electrification (CIER) on the theme of " Electrification and development" from January 23 to January 25, 2008, the Moroccan News Agency (MAP) reported Thursday.
The conference, which will be held in the Moroccan southwestern city of Marrakech, is aimed at fostering the development of conceptual dynamics in the field of rural electrification, come up with projects and innovations to promote the realization of sustainable development, as well as encourage the sharing of techniques, know-how and development of skills.
In addition, the conference will present the participants with the opportunity to share experiences, expertise and knowledge with a view to developing innovative solutions, efficient implementation mechanisms and new techniques with regard to rural electrification.
During the meeting, several plenary sessions dealing with various issues such as "the challenges and strategies facing electrification in Africa" and "rural electrification, an engine for sustainable development" will be organized on the sidelines of the conference.
The participants will also debate themes related to " institutional implementation" and "funding, between efficiency and institutional implementation as well as the availability of resources and the improvement processes."
