Portuguese President Anibal Cavaco Silva on Thursday sent his condolences to India, Bangladesh and Nepal, where floods have killed over 2,000 people.

India has suffered the worst from the floods, with more than 1,500 victims.

Cavaco sent notes of condolence to Indian President Anibal Cavaco Silva, Bangladeshi President Iajuddin Ahmed and Nepalese Prime Minister Guirija Prasad Koirala.

The United Nations, the Red Cross and non-government organizations will send humanitarian aid to the three South Asian nations.

The Red Cross said millions of local residents had been displaced and are facing hunger and thirst.
