Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Tanzania will sign partnership agreements in the near future aimed at enabling Congolese national parks authorities to learn management techniques from their Tanzanian counterparts in this field, DRC's environment minister Didace Pembe has said.
Pembe made these remarks Thursday when he held talks in the capital of Kinshasa with his Tanzanian counterpart Marc James Mwandosya, according to UN-sponsored Top Congo radio station.
Mwandosya said Tanzania has a national park management training facility and was willing to assist Congolese park managers improve their knowledge in this domain, and inspire themselves from Tanzania's experience in the management of the world-famous Sengereti national park.
The proposed protocol agreements, he said, are expected to focus on investors who assisted Tanzania in developing this sector and make Sengereti national park, one of the most beautiful parks in the world, to shift their interest to Congolese national parks beginning with Virunga national park, by arranging excursions for tourists visiting Sengereti so they can also discover the untamed wonders of DRC tourist attractions.
DRC has 7 national parks, namely, Virunga in the eastern North- Kivu region, Kahuzi-Biega in South-Kivu region in the east, Maiko in the eastern province, Salonga in the western Equator region, Upemba in Katanga to the east, Kundelungu also in Katanga and Okapi of Epulu in the eastern province.
