Forty seven drug traffickers have been arrested in the Indian Ocean island country of Madagascar since July 19 this year.
A gendarmerie officer told the media that a gendarmerie troop of 50 seized 17 tons of hemps and located a drug plantation farm of seven hectares during a 20-day operation in the northern region of Diana, reported the French-language daily L' Express on Saturday.
They were nabbed when they were about to dispatch the leaves to the neighboring towns, said the report.
