Hamas Executive Forces have completed the formation of their naval division on Saturday and it will assume work on Gaza shores soon.
The new force and the Palestinian National Authority marine service, loyal to President Mahmoud Abbas' of Fatah, will work together and bridge the gap left by Hamas' takeover of the Gaza Strip last month, according to a Hamas spokesman.
The 150 troops will run the marine police headquarters in Gaza. Their tasks would be fighting drug smuggling through the sea and securing the Palestinian fishermen properties, the spokesman added.
Earlier, Israeli military sources said the Israeli gunboats crews were given new instructions on how to deal with the Hamas force which will operate without vessels.
Hamas has been setting up new security services or reorganize the previous departments, trying to impose more control on the territory they seized from Fatah.
A few weeks ago, the Islamic movement also established an intelligence body.
