Four U.S. soldiers have been killed and four others wounded in a bomb attack south of Baghdad, the U.S. military said on Sunday.

The incident took place during combat operations on Saturday, a military statement said without providing further details.

The latest deaths bring the number of U.S. soldiers have been killed in Iraq to almost 3,690 since the Iraq war broke out in March 2003, according to media count based on Pentagon figures.
