Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has appointed Gholam Hossein Nozari as the country's new oil minister, the Iranian presidential website said on Sunday.
According to Ahmadinejad's decree, Kazem Vaziri Hamaneh, the current oil minister, has been appointed a special advisor to the president in oil and gas affairs.
Before the appointment, Nozari was the managing director of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC).
In another decree, Ahmadinejad appoints Ali-Akbar Mehrabian as the new minister of industries and mines, replacing Ali-Reza Tahmasbi.
Local Mehr news agency reported earlier on Sunday that Ahmadinejad has accepted the resignation of Tahmasbi.
"Dr. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has accepted the resignation of Ali- Reza Tahmasbi, the minister for industries and mines," Mojtaba Samareh Hashemi, a top presidential advisor, was quoted as saying.
Tahmasebi resigned his post last week, according to Mehr's report.
Hashemi said the reason behind the change of minister is to strengthen and renovate the industrial sector and to establish better coordination between industrial sector and other development plans.
