Drug traffickers use small planes to transport drugs to Argentina's main urban centers, according to a security study released on Sunday.
With small planes that can carry up to 600 kg of drugs each, drugs in Argentina reach clandestine runways near the country's main urban centers, said a study conducted by Argentina's Security Ministry and published by the local daily Clarin.
The study found that "many of the (clandestine flights near urban centers) come from Paraguay with stops in (Argentine Province's) Santiago del Estero," about 1,500 km north of the country's capital.
These small planes "do not have seats, nor security measures," showed the study.
Also on Sunday, a truck, with 1,700 kg of marijuana onboard, was seized in Clorinda bordering Paraguay, said the National Customs Department.
The driver, a 29-year-old Paraguayan, was arrested, and the drugs' value in the black market was estimated at 550,000 U.S. dollars.
