Cambodian journalists should report in a constructive role and with dignity, urged Prime Minster Hun Sen on Monday.

"Journalists should report for constructive feedback, for protection, with dignity, and without cursing or using ugly words, " he said during a seminar of legal affairs for diplomats and senior governmental officials.

"They should have responsibility for their stories. Some journalists write to curse their enemies to death, but only the cursers die before their enemies," he added.

Cambodia doesn't have any law to sentence journalists over defamation, but they might be fined if they report wrong, he said.

In addition, government officials don't want to file complaints to court against journalists, he said, asking the information minister to help reporters improve their professional quality.
