The bird flu has not affected the number of foreign tourist arrivals in Bali island, the center of Indonesia's tourist industry, Indonesian Tourism Minister Jero Wacik said Wednesday.
"So far, it is not necessary to worry about it. The tourists keep coming,"Wacik said at the State Palace.
The minister said that the number of foreign tourist arrivals in Bali increased after the death of a woman by avian influenza virus on Sunday.
The death was the first human case in the beautiful tourist resort that is visited by average of from 4,000 to 4,500 visitors per day, according to Wacik.
"There is no decrease on foreign tourist arrivals after the bird flu case, even the number rise to 5,000 and some time 6,000 per day, above the average," he said.
Indonesia targets six millions foreign tourist arrivals this year. The country's tourist industry was hit by terrorism in recent years.
