The Egyptian Foreign Ministry on Wednesday denounced the Israeli attacks in southern Gaza Strip city of Khan Younis which killed seven Palestinians Tuesday.

The Israeli military operations breed violence between the Palestinians and Israel, said a foreign ministry statement.

The Israeli attacks worsen the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Palestinian territories in general and the Gaza Strip in particular, the statement added.

The Israeli forces on Tuesday carried out military operation in Khan Younis, killing at least seven Palestinians.

One day after the Israeli army operations, the military wing of Hamas movement claimed responsibility on Wednesday for bombing the Erez crossing between Israel and Gaza with 10 mortar shells, the first by Hamas in months which left some Israeli soldiers wounded.

Egypt stressed the importance of calming down for both of the two sides and stopping any practices that would increase violence, the statement said.
