The Arab League (AL) warned of the negative consequences of unceasing Israeli attacks on the Palestinian territories on the security in the region and the entire Mideast peace process, Egyptian official MENA news agency reported Wednesday.
The unceasing military raids by the Israeli forces against the Palestinians proved that Israel has no real intention to achieve peace, said a statement by the AL general secretariat, calling Israel "a country above the law."
The AL urged the Palestinian people to close ranks and step up efforts to stand up to Israeli savage practices and realize the aim of establishing a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, said the report.
The pan-Arab entity issued the statement following the Israeli military operation Tuesday in the southern Gaza town of Khan Younis, which killed at least seven Palestinians and injured other 28.
One day after the Israeli army operation, the military wing of Hamas movement claimed responsibility on Wednesday for bombing the Erez crossing between Israel and Gaza with 10 mortar shells, the first by Hamas in months which left some Israeli soldiers wounded.
On Wednesday, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry also condemned the Israeli attacks in Khan Younis and highlighted the necessity of calming down for the two parties, saying such an Israeli practice breed violence between the two sides.
