U.S. soldier dies from non-battle related cause in Baghdad

An American soldier died due to a non-battle related incident on Thursday in the Iraqi capital, the U.S. military said on Friday.

A military statement said that an investigation is underway but failed to provide further details about the incident.

The name of the soldier is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, it added.

The latest death bring the number of U.S. soldiers have been killed in Iraq to more than 3,700 since the Iraq war broke out in March 2003, according to media count based on Pentagon figures.
