A suicide bombing killed a district chief and his three children in southern Afghanistan on Friday, the police said.
The bombing killed Khairuddin Kaka, chief of Jalai district in Kandahar province, and two of his teenage sons and one of his daughters, a local police officer Mohammad Saber told Xinhua.
The blast occurred when a suicide bomber walked to the door of Kaka's house in Kandahar city, the provincial capital, and blew himself up, the police officer said.
One of the district chief's daughters and one of his sons were also injured in the explosion, he added.
No one has claimed responsibility, but Taliban rebels have carried out similar attacks frequently.
Kandahar, a hotbed of Taliban militants, has suffered from suicide bombings frequently over the past years.
Due to rising Taliban violence, over 3,900 persons have been killed in Afghanistan this year.
