Two persons were killed as the locals retaliated against an armed group in southern Nepal on Friday.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Shiv Prasad Prasai said cardres of the Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha (Terai Democratic Liberation Front) led by Jwala Singh (JTMM-J) shot at Mahendra Tamang, principal of local Aamadevi School in Parsa district, some 90 km south of capital Kathmandu.
In retaliation against the JTMM-J cadres, two local people were killed. The deceased have been identified as Sanjeev Patel and Mithun Patel.
Tamang who received serious bullet injuries have been brought to Kathmandu for treatment.
JTMM-J is a breakaway armed group from JTMM led by Jai Krishna Goit (JTMM-G) formed on July 26, 2004. Both JTMM factions have been demanding a separate state in south Nepal's Terai region.
