Israel launched Friday an air strike on Palestinian rocket launchers in the northern Gaza Strip, but caused no casualties, said local witnesses.
According to the witnesses, Israeli aircraft fired at least two missiles because they heard two explosions after seeing Israeli helicopters in the area.
They added that the Israeli missiles missed the targets as the militants were on their way back from firing rockets toward Israel.
The Israeli army confirmed the airstrike, saying that the air force "targeted Palestinians who had fired rockets at Israeli territory."
A military spokesman accused the Palestinian militants of firing some 15 rockets and mortar shells at Israel from Gaza on Friday, though they caused no damage or casualties.
