A motorcycle bomb ripped through a crowded area in downtown Baghdad on Sunday, killing at least a civilian and wounding four others, an Interior Ministry source said.
"A motorcycle rigged with explosives detonated by remote control in the al-Khulafaa Square in Bab al-Muadham area before noon," the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
At least one civilian was killed in the explosion, said the source, adding that the toll could rise as ambulances continue ferrying wounded people to nearby hospitals.
Earlier, the source said that the Iraqi police collected 19 unidentified bodies from different parts of the Iraqi capital.
The bullet-riddled bodies were bound and blindfolded, showing signs of torture, he said.
Violence persists in Baghdad as sectarian killings, bombings, and abductions cause dozens of Iraqi casualties daily.
