The Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Wednesday condemned Israeli military escalation in Gaza Strip, saying the recent attacks raise doubts about the Israeli government's peace intentions.
Considering the recent Israeli raids on the Gaza Strip as massacres, the president has blamed in a statement issued by his office the consequences "of escalating the violence and killing more innocent people" on the Israeli government.
"The Israeli occupation wants to raise the violence to draw reactions and justify committing more crimes," said the statement, in spite of the circumstances that the Gaza is still on the grip of Hamas movement, rival to Abbas' Fatah.
Over the past couple of days, 13 Palestinians have been killed in air and artillery strikes. Nine of the dead were members of Hamas military wing, three were Islamic Jihad (Holy War) militants and two were teenagers.
The peace process, which international community tries to revive, can not make any progress if the current Israeli policies and procedures continue, warned the statement.
