France on Wednesday called on Iran to honor commitments to the international community with regard to its nuclear program.
"We have taken note of yesterday's announcement that an agreement had been reached to resolve the 'outstanding issues' in accordance with the demands the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the United Nations Security Council with a lot of interest," French foreign ministry spokesman Denis Simonneau said during a regular press briefing.
"We have not yet received any information about the said calendar. Nevertheless, it is important that we work towards ensuring that these commitments are implemented within the coming weeks," the spokesman said in reaction to yesterday's announcement that Iran and the IAEA had agreed on a calendar to resolve their differences.
"Incidentally, we have to understand that trust will not be re- established solely by allowing the IAEA to conduct overdue inspections on nuclear sites. Iran must accept to suspend all its sensitive nuclear activities, failure to which, the international community will have no choice but to maintain its firm attitude including the possibility of adopting a third resolution at the security council," the spokesman said.
