Five Palestinians, including three Hamas militants, were wounded during an Israeli airstrike in east of Khan Younis in southern Gaza Strip on Thursday, witnesses and medics said.
The witnesses said that several militants of the al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas armed wing, went to confront the Israeli troops that rolled into the southern Gaza Strip before dawn.
An Israeli missile was fired at the militants and inflicted the casualties, the witnesses said, adding that the Israeli soldiers also stormed the area, broke into Palestinian homes and detained ten people.
Last week, the Israeli army stormed the same area and detained 80 people. Earlier this week, Israeli ground and air strikes killed 14 Palestinians in the Hamas-controlled strip, including nine Hamas militants, three Islamic Jihad (Holy War) and two children.
Meanwhile, Israeli Radio reported that three Israeli soldiers were slightly injured when Palestinian militants ambushed them near Ein Beit el-Maa refugee camp in the northern West Bank city of Nablus.
An Israeli army spokesman confirmed that a group of Palestinian gunmen opened fire at the Israeli army patrol in the suburbs of Nablus. The wounded were treated immediately at the scene.
Four armed groups claimed responsibility for the attack -- Fatah, Hamas, Islamic Jihad and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.
