Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi held a ceremony Friday morning at his office 's compound to welcome his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe.

Abe inspected a guard of honor at the compound of the Malaysian Prime Minister's Office at Putrajaya, administrative center of Malaysia, before a delegation meeting between the two countries started.

Abe led a 240-member strong delegation to arrive in Malaysia Thursday night for a three-day official visit to the country.

It is his first official visit to Malaysia since he became Japan 's prime minister last September.
