Four militants were killed and 11 others detained in two operations in Afghanistan on Friday.
Some Taliban militants were attempting to set up an ambush against government forces in Andar district of the central Ghazni province, district chief Abdul Rahim Dasiwal said.
The police rushed to the site and attacked the militants, killing three of them and injuring three others, he added.
Meanwhile, the U.S.-led coalition forces killed one militant and captured 11 others in Sherzad district of the eastern Nangarhar province, a coalition statement said.
Multiple weapons, including a machine gun, ammunition vests, six rocket propelled grenades, two grenades, a bag of explosive propellant, mortar fuses and 21 landmines were found during a search, it added.
Due to rising Taliban violence, about 4,000 persons have been killed in Afghanistan this year.
