Kim Kyok Sik, chief of the general staff of the Korean People's Army, Friday lashed out at the United States for insisting on pursuing a hostile policy against the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported.
Kim made the remarks at a national meeting held Friday to mark the 47th anniversary of DPRK leader Kim Jong Il's Songun (army first) revolutionary leadership.
"A tense situation is still prevailing on the Korean Peninsula due to the U.S. persistent hostile policy towards the DPRK," said Kim in the report.
Kim also vowed to fight back any U.S. nuclear attacks or preemptive strikes with "the retaliatory means powerful enough" if Washington continues putting pressure upon the DPRK.
