Minister for Information and Communications Krishna Bahadur Mahara Sunday said that the Nepali Constituent Assembly (CA) elections will be held at any cost as schedule on Nov. 22, 2007.
As the election is the national requirement, everyone should focus on it, said minister Mahara, who represents the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) (CPN-M) in the eight-party government.
Even though the elections is full of challenges, it must succeed, he said at an interaction organized by the Federation of Nepalese Journalists' in the capital Sunday morning.
Mahara's statement comes a couple of days after CPN-M chairman Prachanda proposed postponement of the elections by five months.
On Friday, the CPN-M chairman had said that there was no point making a rush for the Nov. 22 polls and that it would make no difference if the polls are held in between mid-April and mid-May next year.
However, Mahara did not comment on Prachanda's proposal.
