Israeli soldiers shot dead a Palestinian farmer near the borders between central Gaza Strip and the Jewish state on Monday morning, paramedics and eyewitnesses reported.
Witnesses said the farmer whose identity was still unknown was shot as he was heading as usual to his farm east of al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza Strip, adding that his farm is near the borders with Israel.
Palestinian paramedics said they were informed by the Israeli side that there is a body of a Palestinian in the area, and that a Palestinian ambulance should pick the body up from nearby.
Earlier on Monday, Islamic Jihad (Holy War) militants claimed responsibility for launching two home-made rockets from Gaza at the Israeli town of Sderot. Israeli Radio reported that there were no injuries or damages reported.
In the West Bank, Palestinian security sources said that the Israeli army arrested five Palestinians in the cities of Ramallah and Hebron. The Israeli army said they are suspects for planning attacks on Israel.
