Leader of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in Gaza Strip Ismail Haneya urged on Monday the Palestinian leadership of President Mahmoud Abbas to resume national dialogue away from American and Israeli pressure.
"I hope the Palestinian side in Ramallah is ready and prepared for any dialogue when they get freed from the American and Israeli will," Haneya told reporters in Gaza.
President Abbas and his Fatah movement refuse to talk with Hamas that seized control of Gaza Strip after fighting in mid-June and then Abbas sacked the Hamas government and formed a Western- backed government based in Ramallah.
Since then, the Hamas movement, confined to the Gaza Strip under Israeli closure and international boycott, has been appealing for talks with Abbas to ease the plight.
In the meantime, Haneya said that Hamas politburo chief Khaled Mashaal would visit Qatar where he would "propose vision and principles for resolving the current situation."
But Hamas still rejects Abbas' conditions for dialogue, which are -- giving up the control of the Gaza Strip to the "Palestinian legitimacy" and removing the remains of Hamas "coup."
However, a Hamas lawmaker, Marwan Abu Rass, on Sunday criticized his movement for insisting on talks with Abbas and Fatah, saying "the dialogue with the corrupt elements is forbidden. "
