Curfew in Bangladesh withdrawn |

The Bangladeshi government Monday night totally lifted the curfew imposed on six major cities including capital Dhaka.
An official handout said that the curfew imposed on the six divisional headquarters from Aug. 22 has been withdrawn.
The government declared the curfew and shut down all universities and colleges in the country's six cities on Aug. 22 as violent student protests escalated resulting in one death and hundreds injured.
Police sources said no major untoward incident happened since the curfew was clamped. And during the curfew, the authorities has lifted curfew temporarily to restore normal life and smooth supply of goods to markets.
The unprecedented student protests erupted on Aug. 20 following a brawl between students of Dhaka University and army men who live in the camp of the university during a football match on the university campus.
The students held processions after the armymen beat some students, demanding withdrawal of the army camp from the campus and apology from Army Chief Moeen U Ahmed for the incident. They also demanded withdrawal of state of emergency imposed on Jan. 11.
As the protests escalated, the government withdrew the army camp from the university campus.
