South Korea is pushing to discuss infrastructure investment in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) during the upcoming inter-Korean summit to boost bilateral economic cooperation, South Korea's Yonhap News Agency said Tuesday.
"The infrastructure investment is only possible after paving the way for bringing technology and money into North Korea," Yonhap quoted an unnamed South Korean government official as saying.
If a new round of six-party talks on the nuclear issues can bring about some progress on U.S. sanctions and designation of the DPRK as a state sponsor of terrorism, the leaders of the South Korea and DPRK will be able to seriously discuss the issue related to inter-Korean economic cooperation, Yonhap quoted as the official as saying.
South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun is set to visit Pyongyang on Oct. 2-4 and hold summit meeting with DPRK top leader Kim Jong-il there.
