Around 100 members of the Landless Workers' Movement (MST) have seized a farm owned by druglord Gustavo Duran Bautista, local media reported Monday.

The druglord was allegedly linked to Colombia's Norte del Valle cartel leader Juan Carlos Ramirez Abadia, who was arrested in Brazil on Aug. 7.

MST leader Naiane da Silva said, "From this moment, if the landowner gets involved in drug trafficking, the property will belong to the social community."

The organization threatened to invade five other properties owned by Bautista in Sao Francisco Valley, northeast Brazil.

Bautista was arrested on Aug. 18 in Uruguay, while transporting about half a ton of cocaine to the Netherlands. He operated farms in different states of the country's northeast region, annually producing 1,200 tons of fruit.

The drug-trafficking gang hid the cocaine in fruit shipments. Federal police estimated that Bautista's property in the country had reached a value of 200 million reais (about 102.5 million U.S. dollars).
