Palestinian security forces loyal to President Mahmoud Abbas arrested 10 members of the Islamic Hamas movement in the northern West Bank towns on Tuesday.
Sources close to Hamas said Hamas partisans were detained in Jenin, Nablus and Tulkarem after they failed to comply with calls for surrendering themselves to the security forces.
The sources said that three of the detainees, including a local Hamas leader, were transferred from Nablus to a Ramallah prison via Israeli checkpoints.
Since ousted by Hamas from the Gaza Strip in mid-June, Fatah, which is still dominant in the West Bank, has started to arrest Hamas supporters and members, accusing them of plotting another coup like the Gaza takeover.
International Solidarity Foundations for human rights, a local body, has condemned the politically-motivated arrest of 450 people since the mid-June.
The group also called on the authorities to respect the law in dealing with such issues.
