Chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist)(CPN-M) Prachanda has directed the party lawmakers to go to the villages with strong programs for the Constituent Assembly (CA) election.
Speaking at a party meeting held at CPN-M parliamentary committee on Tuesday, Prachanda asked the members of interim parliament representing the CPN-M to start a campaign for the CA election across the country. He also urged the party leaders to try to garner wider support from the people to the recently announced 22-point pre-election demands.
The meeting was convened to advice the party lawmakers on the electoral campaign in the run up for the Nov. 22 as the budget session of the interim parliament has been prorogued, said CPN-M's chief whip in the interim parliament Dinanath Sharma.
He also added that the CA poll campaigns would be started in all villages across the nation from Tuesday onward.
The meeting has been called amidst the criticism from different quarters to the statement by Prachanda saying the CA poll could be postponed.
On Aug. 26, CPN-M issued a press release claiming that chairman of CPN-M Prachanda was misquoted by the media regarding the postponement of the election.
