The Nepali government has sped up the process of nationalizing the king's property, reported the Independents News Service on Tuesday.
Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Prithbi Subba Gurung, who is a member of the panel formed to nationalize king's property, said the government has already brought the palaces, jungle and land into its name.
Gurung said at the Reporters Club that no cash deposits were found in the name of the king in the national banks. The government had issued directive to Nepal Rastra bank (NRB) to investigate whether the king had bank balance in the national banks.
Meanwhile, the land owned by king Gyanendra in Gorkha district, some 75 km west of the capital city, has been transferred to the name of Department of Archeology (DoA) of Nepal, the report said.
