Some 100 Egyptians who sneaked into Italy illegally had been arrested recently by the Italian authorities, Egypt's official news agency MENA reported on Tuesday.

The Italian authorities decided on Tuesday to deport 11 of the illegal Egyptian immigrants after the first group was expelled on Monday, said MENA, without elaborating when the rest of the illegal immigrants will be sent back to Egypt.

The Egyptian embassy in Rome had received reports from the Italian authorities on the deportation of the illegal immigrants, who were arrested off the city of Sicily while trying to enter Italy by sea.

Meanwhile, according to a MENA report on Monday, 45 Egyptians who attempted to immigrate illegally to Europe via Libya were arrested by the Libyan authorities and will be sent back next week.
