Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' office announced on Wednesday that the president will visit Jordan later in the day to brief the Jordanian leadership on the results of his meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.
Abbas and Olmert met Tuesday in the latter's residence in Jerusalem, where the two reportedly held a serious but unsubstantial talks.
The chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat told a news conference following the meeting that their talks did not touch the substantial final status issues such as refugees, borders or Jerusalem.
Apart from his scheduled visit to Jordan, Abbas also delegated an aide to Cairo to discuss with the Egyptian officials the status quo in Gaza Strip, where has been in the grip of rival Hamas since the bloody infighting in mid-June.
The diplomatic moves come ahead of a U.S.-sponsored peace conference to look into ways of reviving Israeli-Palestinian negotiations.
On Tuesday, Abbas said that the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) has not decided who will be sent to participate in the conference, which is likely to be held in November.
