Poland's defense minister visits troops in Iraq

Poland's Defense Minister Aleksander Szczyglo inspected Polish troops in Divaniyah and al- Qut in Iraq on Wednesday, the PAP news agency reported.

Earlier this month Szczyglo said decisions on the prolongation of Poland's Iraq mission will fall this autumn.

In Iraq, Szczyglo was accompanied by land force commander general Waldemar Skrzypczak and operational force head general Bronislaw Kwiatkowski.

Currently, 900 Polish officers and soldiers stationed in Iraq. Polish President Lech Kaczynski has approved a prolongation of the Polish mission in Iraq until the end of 2007.
