Sudanese President Omer al-Bahir announced on Wednesday that his country and the Central African Republic had agreed on the normalization of bilateral relations.

Al-Bashir made the remarks when seeing off the Central African President Francois Bozize, who concluded a two-day official visit to Sudan.

"The visit was aimed at restoring the relations to their normal track. We have discussed all the aspects of the relations and reached an agreement to restore the relations to what it used to be," the Sudanese president told reporters.

Al-Bashir said that President Bozize had ordered reopening of the borders between the two countries as a positive reaction to the visit, noting that the two sides had also agreed on securing and monitoring the joint borders.

President Bozize, on his part, affirmed determination to boost bilateral relations, saying "we are determined to push the relations forward."

Expressing his satisfaction over the outcomes of the visit, the Central African president said that the two countries "have overpassed the past and are thinking about the future."

On Tuesday, Bozize started his first visit to Sudan aimed to open a new page between the two neighboring African countries. During the visit, he held talks with his Sudanese counterpart and visited the Giad Industrial City in southern Khartoum.
