Twenty ambassadors approved by Nepali cabinet

A meeting of Nepali cabinet Thursday approved the names of twenty ambassadors, local leading media group's website THT Online reported Thursday.

The meeting held at Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala's official residence at Baluwatar, Kathmandu named six ambassadors of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Leninist-Marxist) nominees, namely Pramesh Hamal, Tanka Karki, Ganesh Yonjan, Hamid Ansari, Kamal Koirala and Guna Laxmi Sharma BK as ambassadors to Brussels, Beijing, Tokyo, Riyadh, Seoul and Myanmar, respectively.

Another six nominees from Nepli Congress have been also approved, namely Shailaja Acharya, Suresh Chandra Chalise, Surya Nath Mishra, Surya Kiran Gurung, Navin Prakash Jung Shah and Murari Raj Sharma as envoys to New Delhi, Washington, Doha, Moscow, Bangkok and London.

Four nominees of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) Yogendra Dhakal, Rishiraj Adhikari, Bijaya Kant Lal Karna and Pampha Bhusal have been named ambassadors to Australia, Malayasia, Denmark and France respectively.

Nepali Congress (Democratic) has its nominee Bal Bahadur Kunwar approved as envoy to Islamabad.

Career diplomats picked for ambassadorial assignment include Dinesh Bhattarai to Geneva, Pradeep Khatiwada to Bangladesh and Arjun Bahadur Thapa to Israel.

The names approved by the cabinet will be sent to the parliamentary special hearing committee on Thursday.

They will be formally appointed as ambassadors once the parliamentary committee approves their names.
