A Qassam rocket was fired by Palestinians from northern Gaza Strip and hit a house in southern Israeli town of Sderot on Thursday morning, but no one was injured in the attack, Israeli media reported.
The house was seriously damaged, but as the house was empty when the rocket landed, the attack caused no injuries. Several people suffered from shock and were treated on the spot by paramedics.
Statistics from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) showed that nearly 300 Qassam rockets and mortar shells were fired at southern Israeli communities from Gaza during the past month.
As a result, Sderot's parents association has threatened not to allow the school year to open on Sept. 2, due to the government's failure to complete the fortification of classrooms and schools.
Earlier in the day, Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, the armed wing of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah movement, said its fighters had fired a home-made rocket into Sderot.
Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades said its militants fired the rocket in response to the Israeli raids on the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip.
On Wednesday, three cousin Palestinian children died in Israeli tank shelling in northern Gaza Strip. The children were killed when they approached an abandoned rocket launcher used earlier by Islamic Jihad (Holy War) militants to shell Sderot.
