Palestinian Hamas movement on Thursday again condemned the policy of the caretaker government based in the West Bank city Ramallah to close down over 100 charities, saying the decision came from Israel and the U.S.
"This decision was coordinated with Israel and the US administration to weaken Hamas and uproot it," Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri told reporters in Gaza.
Abu Zuhri said the caretaker government, led by the U.S.-backed prime minister Salam Fayyad, "has no legitimacy and unauthorized to take such decision since his government is outlaw and has not obtained the parliament's confidence."
"The only side authorized to take this decision is the court," he added.
Earlier in the day, Al-Ayyam daily, a Palestinian newspaper, published the names of the charities and associations which the caretaker government decided to close down.
On Tuesday, Hamas spokesman in Gaza Fawzi Barhoum made a similar condemnation over the decision by Fayyad's government.
Barhoum said in a statement that the decision "is a political conspiracy against Hamas movement ... is part of the declared war against Hamas to satisfy the Israelis and Americans."
On Monday evening, Riyad al-Maliki, information minister of Fayyad's government said that a decision to close down 104 Hamas- related charities was taken.
In an interview with several Palestinian newspapers published on Tuesday, Fayyad denied that the move targeted Hamas, claiming that the charities which would be closed had "committed legal, financial and administrative violations."
