An unidentified gang shot dead a Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist)(CPN-M) cadre in Banke District, situated some 365 km southwest of Nepal Thursday night, reported the local media house's website THT online Friday.

Nageshwor Raidas, a resident of Indrapur Village Development Committee (VDC)-6, was shot by unidentified persons at around 10 p. m. (0415 GMT). Critically injured in the shooting, Raidas died while being rushed to the Bheri Zonal Hospital, the report said.

He was a member of the CPN-M affiliated Dalit Liberation Front.

Police said they had launched a manhunt to track down the murderers. They believe personal dispute might have led to his murder.
