Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is to chair a meeting of the executive committee of the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) on Saturday to discuss Hamas arrests of Fatah members in Gaza Strip.
According to a statement from Abbas' office, the PLO meeting will be held in the evening in the West Bank city of Ramallah.
"The meeting will discuss the recent developments in the Gaza Strip and ways of protecting our people from the madness and repression," said the statement.
On Friday, thousands of Fatah supporters held prayers outside mosques in protest against what they deemed as incitement aimed at their movement by Hamas-affiliated imams.
After taking control of Gaza in mid-June, Hamas has banned public gatherings and rallies unless they obtain permission 48 hours in advance.
Following the outdoor prayers, hundreds of Fatah members marched in random rallies, which provoked Hamas' police force to arrest and beat dozens.
