The Bangladeshi government Saturday fixed 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. office timing for the upcoming Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
That means the concerned offices are only open during the stipulated time from Sunday to Thursday during Ramadan.
The decision made at a meeting of the advisory committee presided over by Chief Advisor Fakhruddin Ahmed stipulates the office time during Ramadan would be effective in all government, semi-government, autonomous and semi-autonomous offices and institutions in the country.
However, emergency service providers like banks, post offices, hospitals, and state-owned mills and factories would decide their working hours in accordance with their own rules "in public interest."
Working hours for the Supreme Court and all other courts under it during Ramadan have to be determined by the Supreme Court.
The office time in Bangladeshi government and semi-government offices is usually from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
