The Nepali government has planned to mobilize 138,202 security personnel for the security of the Constituent Assembly (CA) polls scheduled on Nov. 22, Home Minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula has said.

According to Sunday's The Himalayan Times report, speaking at a two-day orientation program on CA election security organized by the ministry Saturday, Sitaula said the government would mobilize 40,168 personnel of the Nepal Police and 21,934 personnel of the Armed Police Force (APF).

Sitaula was quoted by the daily as saying the government will hire 76,000 temporary police personnel for the CA poll security.

The Nepal Police will hire 70,000 temporary policemen whereas the APF will hire 6,000, Sitaula said, adding that temporary policemen will be given 15-day training, which will be completed by Oct. 17.

"Nepal Police and temporary police will provide security to polling booths whereas APF personnel will look after the overall security of the elections," Sitaula added.
