The Red Crescent Society (RCS) of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will launch a Ramadan aid program by distributing food supplies to the low-income families, local newspaper Khaleej Times reported on Sunday.
The program called "Ramadan Provisions" aims to ensure provision of basic commodities to the needy people before the advent of the upcoming holy fasting month of Ramadan, according to the report.
A total of 30,000 families will benefit from the program, under which assistance will be provided to the poor, orphans and those living in remote areas.
The Khalifa bin Zayed Charity and Humanitarian Foundation has donated 2 million dirhams (544,959 U.S. dollars) to support the program.
The month of Ramadan begins on Sept. 13 and ends on Oct. 12.
