India's Congress party has called a general strike for September 10 in a flooded eastern state where an outbreak of cholera has killed more than a hundred people, the Hindustan Times reported on Sunday.
The party accused the government of the eastern Orissa state of failure in fighting the disease caught from infected water that causes diarrhea, vomiting and often causes death.
Orissa is governed by the Congress party's political opponents Biju Janata Dal and Bharatiya Janata Party.
Over 120 people have died because of cholera since its outbreak last month in the state, according to official statistics.
