Unknown gunmen shot dead an Iraqi contractor and wounded an interpreter, both working with the U.S. forces, in the city of Kut in central the country, a local police source said on Sunday.
The attack took place late on Saturday when unknown gunmen in a car opened fire on a contractor and a translator in the al-Hourah neighborhood in Kut City, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
The two victims were attacked while they were on their way home in central the city, some 180 km south of Baghdad, the source said.
The police did not give the names of the two, but said that the incident is under investigation.
